The Miss Fountain Valley 2024 Competition will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4 at the Golden West College Mainstage Theater.

Knights of Columbus Ladies plan spring boutique
The Ladies of the Knights of Columbus at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 17270 Ward St., will hold their first Spring Boutique from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11.
Thirty vendors will participate and will be offering Valentine's and Easter gifts, including Vietnamese community foods, tamales from the Guadalupe Society as well as baked goods, jewelry, arts and crafts.
►State of the City event is Feb. 15
The city will hold its inaugural State of the City event, featuring Mayor Glenn Grandis, on Thursday, Feb. 15 at the Saigon Grand Center, 16149 Brookhurst St.
Check-in for the event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the program beginning at noon. The event will feature an entertaining and informative program, lunch and photo and networking opportunities, city officials said.
Tickets are limited and are now on sale for $50 per person. City officials anticipate a sold-out event.
The event will also be livestreamed on the city's Facebook page. Event proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis Club of Fountain Valley. More information: Call (714) 593-4400.
► Adult soccer registration underway
The Community Services and Recreation Department is accepting registration for its Adult 7 vs. 7 Soccer season.
Early bird registration is complete, but registration is still available until Feb. 4. The season runs Feb. 13 through April 24. Cost is $400 per team plus $17 per team for game referee fees.
The registration fee includes a minimum of eight games. Co-ed division games will be played on Tuesday nights, and men’s division games will be played on Wednesday nights.
Games are played at the Fountain Valley Sports Park.
A managers meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8 in the Fountain Valley Field Office, 16400 Brookhurst St. For more information: (714) 839-8611.
► Senior center offering free tax assistance
The Center at Founders Village is offering free tax assistance to people who are age 60 and older.
IRS-certified volunteers provide free assistance and basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.
Appointments are available on Mondays and Wednesdays from February until April.
