CAMPED IN AT THE GREAT FV CAMPOUT

Body

The 13th annual Great FV Campout was held on Aug. 2-3. Hundreds of Fountain Valley residents enjoyed archery, face-painting, a water balloon toss, and more.

The 120 campsites accommodated about 600 people who camped overnight at the FV Sports Park. This year’s event introduced a new option to request a site next to a specific group, allowing campers to be close to family, friends, and neighbors. Sites held up to five people, but no pets were allowed, so furry friends missed out this time.

For many, the highlight of the camp was the food. An In-N-Out Burger truck provided Saturday dinner, and Sunday breakfast cooked by the FV Rotary Club. And, of course, there were S’mores.

Registration for next year’s camp opens in May or June and closes in July, depending on campsite availability.

Of course, we could not have had such a great event without all the people who helped make it happen: Thank you to OC Parks, OC Astronomers, Boys and Girls Club, FV Rotary Club, Fountain Valley Community Foundation, the YMCA, and volunteers from high schools and other local organizations. We appreciate your help in making this year’s campout a success.
