The annual Concerts in the Park series, hosted by Fountain Valley Recreation and Community Services, returns to the FV Sports Park in July.
For five consecutive Thursdays, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., residents are invited to bring lawn chairs and dancing shoes to the grass fields and enjoy live performances by a variety of musical groups.
Each week features a new band and musical style, including both new and returning favorites from past years. All concerts will be supplemented with activities and food opportunities for residents of all ages.
On July 3, The Dreamboats will provide a rock 'n' roll atmosphere of 50s and 60s classics. Last year, the group of four guitarists and one drummer led and even joined the crowd’s dance floor, rocking out to Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock” and Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba.”
Radio Royalty, a female-led band labeling themselves the number one '80s music band in Orange County, seeks to lift the concert crowd’s energy with synthesized singing and dancing. Covers to expect at the July 10 concert include Whitney Houston, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna and Janet Jackson.
On July 17, Chris Lozano’s Band brings country and rock ballads to the stage. Mixing both classic and contemporary country hits with Southern rock favorites, lead singer and Marine Corps veteran Chris Lozano promises what he describes as “soulful vocals.”
Shifting to Stone Soul in the fourth week, the band uplifts audiences with classic soul and Motown hits on July 24. They call themselves one of the “hardest-working and entertaining bands” for the genre, playing smash hits from Stevie Wonder and The Temptations and encouraging the crowd to bring their classic dance movies.
The series concludes on July 31 with Redneck Rodeo, a country band with a six-decade catalog. Self-described as “America’s country band,” they entertain audiences across Southern California, Nevada and Arizona.
