FV WOMAN’S CLUB TURNS 60

Body

The Fountain Valley Woman’s Club celebrated its 60th anniversary in June. FVWC was organized in 1964 by Harriett Sullivan, who is still an active member. Harriett was presented with a certificate of recognition and a 60-year service pin from the State and National chapters of the Federation of Women’s Clubs. Twelve past presidents of the club are current active members and were recognized for their continued support.

The Club Woman of the Year award for 2023-24 was presented to Sue White, a 5-year member, for her leadership and volunteer activities.

She has served on the executive board as well as several committees. This year Sue co-chaired the Robyne’s Nest Pantry Project which provides food and personal items to at-risk students referred by local school district staff. She became editor of the Club’s monthly newsletter, served on the Scholarship Fundraising and Selection Committees and developed an online Scholarship Application website. Sue also acts as a liaison to the Fountain Valley Friends of the Library and volunteers with the FV Community Foundation.

The next general meeting will be September 10 at Mile Square Golf Course. If you would like more information about FVWC, please contact President Francine Serynek at fserynek@ gmail.com.
