As I look at the ninth and final year together as a troop, we have so many memories. One honored tradition we have had as a Girl Scout Troop 4167 is the privilege of decorating the Fountain Valley Police Department Christmas tree It started five years ago when Troop 3297 invited us to join them in decorating the tree and asked if we would take over the tradition. Our Girl Scouts look forward to buying and making ornaments with the city's finest, singing Christmas carols and decorating the tree. As the years passed and our girls got older, they transformed from cute little girls in Girl Scout vests to extraordinary young ladies. They have learned what it means to be of service to the community, how to take on leadership roles and how to be a sister to every Girl Scout. Although bittersweet, in 2023, we invited two younger Girl Scout troops to join us and eventually take over the honor of decorating the FVPD Christmas tree.
What a joy this experience has been for us all!
I am constantly amazed at what Girl Scouts has done for these young ladies, similar to what it did for me when my mom was my troop leader many moons ago.
I hope FVPD knows how grateful we are for what they do for our community and what an honor it has been to participate in this tradition with them for the last five years.
Thank you, Troop 4167, my fantastic co-leader Jess Kubota, and my daughter Renee Irvine.
