► It's Magazine Day in ... Mike and Patty Debowski, David Pace and Pricilla Ohanian from Fountain Valley volunteered to do service work on the USS Missouri, the “Mighty Moe” over Pearl Harbor week. Jobs included painting, cleaning, restoration and polishing. They had access to areas not available to the general public and got to spend a night onboard this historic ship in the crew bunks. The trip was through roadscholar.org and included a visit to the USS Arizona, one of our country’s most historic sites. Ford Island, where you can visit the Arizona, where the United States entered WWII, and the Missouri, where the war ended with the surrender of Japan on its deck. A priceless experience. ► It's Magazine Day in ... Last summer, four members of the Fountain Valley Woman's Club took a cruise to Alaska. Pictured on their adventure are the Trykar, Ruiz, Herzog and Ouren families. ► It's Magazine Day in ... Two other members of the Fountain Valley Woman’s Club also shared a photo for their recent trip. JoAn Poirel and Nancy Petersen traveled to Arouca, Portugal and walked across the second longest suspension bridge in the world. ► It's Magazine Day in ... Last fall, the Sumpter family traveled to Iceland. Cathy, Abby and Jack are pictured in front of the Hallgrimskirkja Church. While in Iceland, they rode snowmobiles on Vatnajökull (the largest glacier in Iceland), climbed up and around waterfalls, visited historic viking villages, and saw beautiful black sand beaches, all in extreme weather conditions. The country is beautiful and the people are incredibly friendly. It was a trip of a lifetime!
