► Rotary Club Marine assistance event is Jan. 13
When a young Marine and his family report for duty at Camp Pendleton, they are given a small, empty apartment. Often, these young families show up with just what will fit in their car. There have been times when these families have had to sleep on the floor.
Recognizing this problem, the Rotary Club of Camp Pendleton sprang into action and created The Warrior Warehouse. The club began collecting new and gently used furniture, clothing, cookware, household goods, and baby items.
These Marine families are welcome to come by and take whatever they need to set up their apartments so they can be comfortable. To date, more than 11,000 Marine families have been helped over the past 17 years.
The Fountain Valley Rotary Club has been assisting with this project for three years and will be holding another collection day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 in the parking lot at the Center at Founders Village, 17967 Bushard St.
All donations are tax deductible. For more information, contact Marla McGee at (714) 3945856.

Water District team looking for leaks in Fountain Valley
The city is partnering with the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) to conduct a comprehensive acoustic survey of the City’s 217-mile water distribution system to identify unreported leaks.
MWDOC’s five-member leak detection team started the project in October and will continue the survey through Jan. 26, 2024.
All team members will drive MWDOC vehicles and wear uniforms so they can be easily identified by residents as they work their way through the city listening for leaks with specialized equipment, MWDOC officials said.
