WALK FOR HOPE ORANGE COUNTY

Body

City of Hope hosted Walk for Hope in Orange County on Sept. 8, bringing together nearly 2,000 patients, survivors, friends, and family members. The event raised more than $300,000 to expand City of Hope’s cancer research, clinical trials, and patient care. Walk for Hope, held simultaneously across Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Phoenix, and Orange County, was a powerful display of hope in the fight to end cancer.

Participants were greeted by colorful banners, enthusiastic volunteers, and vibrant music that created a lively atmosphere. Vendors offered swag bags, food, and drinks, while people of all ages took part in dancing, sharing stories, and capturing memories with photos. The joyful buzz and colorful display celebrated the strength of survivors, supporting those still in their journey, and remembering those we’ve lost.

Leaders from City of Hope OC took the stage to deliver inspiring messages, emphasizing the organization's mission to create a future without cancer. They reinforced the hope that a cancer-free future is achievable, thanks to collective action and advancements in research.

The energy of the event continued throughout the walk, with music, cheers, and camaraderie. Families, groups of friends, and colleagues walked together, showing that this fight against cancer is one we must face as a community. Volunteers along the route offered water, snacks, and encouragement, ensuring that the walkers felt supported every step of the way.

More than 130 teams crossed the finish line, holding banners and signs that expressed their dedication to fighting cancer. Cancer survivors, adorned with royal purple sashes, were at the heart of the event. This walk was a celebration of the resilience they showed through their journey—a victory lap shared with friends, family, and strangers united by a common goal.

City of Hope’s commitment to improving cancer care in OC was evident throughout the event. They are not only dedicated to research but also to bringing the most advanced treatment and cures to the Orange County community. City of Hope opened its Seacliff location at the corner of Main and Yorktown in May 2024. In 2025, City of Hope will open what will be Orange County’s only specialty hospital 100% focused on researching, treating and curing cancer.

Walk for Hope serves as a powerful reminder that we are not alone in this fight. City of Hope Orange County is standing with this community, making hope a reality, and striving for a future free from cancer.
