As 2025 draws to a close, I am filled with pride and gratitude for all that we have accomplished together. This year has been defined by collaboration, innovation, and community spirit—showing that when we work together, great things happen.
City departments worked tirelessly to deliver quality services and improvements that enhance daily life for residents and businesses. The year began with a focus on strengthening our neighborhoods and improving the way we serve our community.
Public safety initiatives included launching a drone program, introducing an E-bike education program, and expanding the Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT). The city also modernized operations and used $187,000 in grant funding to help offset the cost of a new fire engine for the Fountain Valley Fire Department.
A major milestone this year was streamlining the city’s permitting process, making it faster and easier for residents and businesses to start projects and receive approvals. We also made important updates to the municipal code, from regulating sober living and group homes to encouraging responsible residential development.
We completed key capital improvement projects that enhance safety and quality of life, including street and sidewalk repairs, beautification efforts, and energy-efficient upgrades throughout the city.
To cap off a year of exciting progress, the city launched its first Parks Master Plan, renegotiated a 50-year lease with Mile Square Park that adds 16 acres for the Fountain Valley Sports Park expansion, and celebrated the Center at Founders Village’s 20th anniversary.
Beyond the projects, what truly defines this year are the people. Our city staf f—public works cr ews, police officers, firefighters, parks and recreation staff, and administrative professionals—show up every day with dedication and care. Their hard work keeps our city running smoothly and our community thriving.
This fall, Fountain Valley rolled out its inaugural Citizens’ Academy which provides an exclusive and hands-on journey into municipal government. We are proud to recognize and celebrate the 25 graduates following a dynamic 7-week course and encourage those interested to apply for the 2026 Academy!
Looking ahead to 2026, we will continue advancing technology, expanding communication with residents and planning for future development that enhances Fountain Valley’s quality of life.
Finally, I want to take a moment to remember and mourn the loss of our beloved retired Police Chief Kevin Childe and Fire Chief Bill McQuaid for their contributions and love for our community. In addition, Ed Arnold’s legacy, and the work he did with the Special Olympics and the Huntington Valley Boys and Girls Club cannot be overstated. Thank you to everyone who helps make Fountain Valley “A Nice Place to Live.”
Thank you, Fountain Valley, for your partnership, trust, and support. Together, we’ve built a foundation for continued success—and I look forward to an even brighter year ahead.
