The stakes were high — and so was the community spirit — at the Fountain Valley Community Foundation’s Texas Hold ’em Spring Poker Tournament, held Saturday, April 26, at the Center at Founders Village. With approximately 175 participants going all-in for a great cause, the evening of friendly competition and philanthropy raised nearly $24,000.
Now in its 21st year, the Foundation’s semiannual poker tournaments are a cherished local tradition. Since their inception, the events have raised more than $750,000 for Fountain Valley nonprofits.
“It has been my honor to be the chairperson of this event since the beginning,” said Glenn Grandis, who has led the tournament with unwavering dedication for more than two decades.
Proceeds from the spring event will support the Foundation’s latest capital project: construction of a new performing arts center at the Boys & Girls Club of Huntington Valley, located at the Fountain Valley Sports Park on Brookhurst Street. The center will give local youth a space to develop their talents in music, theater and dance.
Players of all experience levels gathered for an evening of excitement, camaraderie and shared purpose. Whether bluffing their way to the final table or cheering from the sidelines, every guest contributed to supporting the arts and investing in the next generation.
The Foundation extends its gratitude to the sponsors and volunteers who helped make the evening a success. Their support helps ensure this tradition continues to thrive and deliver meaningful impact in the community.
The next tournament is scheduled for Nov. 15. For more information or to reserve a seat, visit fvpoker.org.
