The Fountain Valley Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is looking for new volunteers for its Class of 2024.
RSVP established in June of 1990, starting with nine RSVP volunteers. The program currently has 40 members. RSVP’s work in a variety of capacities and under the guidance of a police sergeant.
RSVP’s are selected for service through a competitive interview process. They attend in-depth training where they learn about the organization and inner workings of the Police Department.
The training includes such topics as residential vacation house checks, code enforcement training, radio codes and procedures, fingerprinting and Live Scan, clerical tasks, participation in various special events such as DUI checkpoints, National Night Out and Summerfest.
RSVP’s also issue handicap violations and fire lane parking citations and remove illegal signage from public property.
Upon graduation members are sworn in by the chief of police and then scheduled to work with other RSVP’s. To learn more about becoming an RSVP volunteer, go to https://www.fountainvalley. gov/714/Retired-Senior-Volunteer- Program
