FV Fire Department ‘Spark of Love’ toy drive underway

The Fountain Valley Fire Department is once again supporting the 31st Annual Spark of Love Toy Drive. The toy drive benefits local charities and non-profit groups in the community that provide toys to kids who may otherwise not fully enjoy the magic of the holiday season.

Community members may drop off new and unwrapped toys at Fountain Valley City Hall, the Fountain Valley Recreation Center, Fountain Valley Senior Center, or Fountain Valley Fire Stations 1 and 2, now through Dec. 24.

The Spark of Love campaign began in 1983 as a partnership between ABC7 and firefighters throughout five counties – Orange, Riverside, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Ventura.

Toys to consider include board and card games, craft activities, art kits, building blocks, dolls, infant toys, car seats and sports equipment.

For more information, call Michelle Rudaitis, fire marshal, at (714) 593-4430.

Library to host violinist Dec. 9

The Fountain Valley Library will host Paul Stein, violinist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 36 years, for an afternoon of music from 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.

Those attending can enjoy the sounds of the holidays, romantic gems from the 19th century, and country-western classics.

Stein will also share entertaining stories about musicians and composers during the event. The event is recommended for adults, 18 and older.

The library is at 17635 Los Alamos St. For more information, call (714) 962-1324 or go to www.ocpl.org/libraries/ fountain-valley.
