Nearly 400 fans cheered Jackelyn Carbajal as she was crowned Miss Fountain Valley 2025 on Feb. 2 at the Saigon Grand Center. She was awarded a $5000 scholarship as well as a Diamond Pendant from Mimi’s Jewelry. In addition, she was awarded the Spirit of Fountain Valley along with a cash award as Miss Congeniality. Miss Carbajal’s talent was playing the ukulele.
For the first time ever, Fountain Valley crowned a Miss Fountain Valley Teen, Laurel Brookhyser. She was awarded a $500 scholarship as well as a silver crown necklace from Mimi’s Jewelry. Her talent was a beautiful vocal performance. Both winners will be representing Fountain Valley this June at the Miss California Competition in Visalia, a preliminary to Miss America.
An appearance by Miss California, Kimberly Vernon, highlighted the evening. The competition included a Private Interview, Health and Fitness, On-Stage question, Talent Competition and Evening Gown. “The inclusion of the Miss Teen competition and a dance performance by 12 by our Little Sisters made for a lively show and a fun evening,” said Sandi Licata, Executive Director. Mayor Ted Bui and the entire Fountain Valley City Council and many other dignitaries were in attendance.
Miss Carbajal is a graduate from Cali-fornia State University, San Bernardino, where she received her bachelor of arts in Business Administration – Marketing. Currently she works at PBS SoCal in Costa Mesa and plans to continue her education in production and business analytics. Her initiative, “A Smile for a Child” has partnered with Make-A-Wish for the last eight years.
Miss Brookhyser is a Senior and Academy for the Performing Arts student at Huntington Beach High School. Her Community Service Initiative, Art for the Heart, aims to provide an increased access of arts programs in underserved communities.
First Runner-Up, Lauren Worley won a $1000 scholarship and is a Business Administration major at Mount Saint Mary’s University. Second Runner- Up is Britney Lam, a Concordia University graduate with Isabel Tuman studying at Golden West College, was Third Runner-Up.
The Miss Fountain Valley’s Teen, Addison Pham, from Fountain Valley High is the First Teen Runner-Up. Several other scholarship awards were presented during the evening including Britney Lam in Academics and Community Service, Stewardship Award to Tea McConkey, and Above & Beyond to Caroline Murdock. For the Teens, Addison Phan won the Academic and Miss Congeniality awards.
Miss America awards more scholarships to young women, ages 14-28, than any other organization in America and celebrated its 101st Anniversary this year. The Title Sponsor Fountain Valley Community Foundation with grant from Hyundai returned this year with a $5,000 sponsorship along with many business and local leaders in the community that helped to fund this wonderful event.
