Irecently had lunch with a couple of work friends from my twenties.
Thirty years have passed and our once a week lunches now happen once a year. Marriage, kids, and adulting have replaced Taco Tuesdays and other priorities of youth.
I arrived first at the restaurant, or so I thought. I began texting my friends to let them know that I was at a table in the back, to the right of the old guy. Turns out the old guy was one of my friends. The worst part? I’m two years older than him.
Age is a state of mind. I look like a middle-aged man nearing fifty-five, but I feel thirtysomething inside. I credit my love of donuts and coasting on the back of the cart at Costco.
Google says this is a good problem to have. Chronological age is the number of years you’ve been alive while subjective age is how old you feel. Simply put, people who feel young at heart tend to live longer. If your subjective age could use a little boost, I recommend checking out Summerfest. It’s happening at Mile Square Park from June 19 to June 22. There’s funnel cakes, Ferris Wheels and fireworks to help bring out the kid in all of us. Hope to see you there.
