Magic in the Air

One of my earliest memories of my dad are the times he took me to his office. It was across the street from the Orange County Airport, before it was remodeled and renamed for John Wayne.

Dad would show me around, introduce me to people he worked with and then we’d walk to the airport for lunch.

We could see the entire runway from the observation deck. Landings, takeoffs, and the roar of the engines were fascinating to a five-year old. I’d never been on a plane, so the idea of leaving the ground was like magic.

The old terminal with sandwiches and Cokes on the roof is no longer there, but the childhood joy of watching planes in flight remains.

This month’s article about the Pacific Airshow provides all the info you need to enjoy the event and relive the excitement of youth.

This issue also contains articles about a haunted house, a pumpkin patch, Beach Boy Brian Wilson, the effects of social media and more. Kinda like choosing a treat from a plastic pumpkin. A little something for everyone.

Have a fun-size month.
