DIVING INTO SUMMER

O On June 16, the Green Valley Dolphins hosted their crosstown rivals, the Greenbrook Gators, for their first swim meet of the 2026 season.

The air was filled with sounds of cheering families, splashing water and starter whistles during one of Fountain Valley’s most spirited summer traditions. Held under sunny skies and warm temperatures, the meet brought together swimmers ages 5 to 18 for a day of competition, teamwork and neighborhood pride.

The meet featured more than 80 events across multiple age divisions and heats, with swimmers competing in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and relay races.

From the youngest swimmers nervously stepping onto the blocks for the first time to veteran competitors racing neck-and-neck, the meet reflected the community spirit that has made neighborhood swim leagues a cherished summer activity for generations of Fountain Valley residents.

The Dolphins won the meet with a final score of 681-659. Swimmers from both teams congratulated one another after races, exchanged highfives and socialized between events.

The teams will face off again when the Gators host the Dolphins for their final meet of the season July 11.
