UUnder head coach David Gutierrez, Fountain Valley High School football is building a program based on “faith, pride, courage and poise.” Coach Gutierrez calls it a “character-first” program.
These foundational principles will serve the Barons well this season as they enter the new Foxtrot League.
This new league will be “competitive,” according to coach Gutierrez.
It will have the Barons playing teams such as Dana Hills and Aliso Niguel.
(Have no fear — the Bell Game with Edison returns.)
The Barons have a goal of honoring the rich tradition of Fountain Valley football and once again rise to compete as a top program in the county.
The Barons are led by Gutierrez (Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator), Ryan Washington (Offensive Coordinator), and Eric Fa’amausili (Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Line Coach). Emerson Aiava, Ryan Balzer, Russel Washington and Latrell Flowers are also involved in coaching and guiding the squad.
These coaches are leading a team that is looking to get back to a winning tradition, which would include getting the bell back from Edison.
This Fountain Valley high school football program is all about being community-based. Coach Gutierrez said the program is being built with a “ground-ourselves-in-the community” ethos. Baron football is also looking to start anew with their weight room.
It has been more than a decade since the weight room has been remodeled. New equipment for a stateof- the-art weight room is needed, according to football booster VP of Fundraising Anne Marie Jones.
Sponsors are needed so all Fountain Valley High School athletes can make use of a great new weight room.
