It’s often said that the secret to a happy life is loving what you do. My first job after college was selling magazine advertising, and it fit like a glove. Advertising was in my blood – my dad sold ads for the L.A. Times in the 1960’s, working out of the building behind what is now Ikea.
In 1995, there was no need to clarify that I worked for a print magazine. Online media didn’t exist yet. When digital advertising arrived a few years later, I was seduced by the lure of money and made the switch. It wasn’t the right fit, but at the time, everyone said print was dying, so I stuck with it.
Four years ago, I convinced Anne we should purchase Fountain Valley Living from its founders. I had always enjoyed reading its articles about our schools, friends, neighbors and community – and I believed others did too, as evidenced by you reading these words today. After a year of learning the business, we expanded with Huntington Beach Living.
Now, I’m happy to announce that we have expanded once again with the acquisition of Parenting OC. For more than 30 years, Parenting OC has delivered articles and information parents throughout Orange County have found useful. We are thrilled with the opportunity to continue this work.
Loving what you do is more than a title on a business card. It’s about the family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues who help you succeed in life. We appreciate you reading our magazines and being part of our community.
