Much of life these days has gone digital and that’s unfortunate. Emailed party invites, birthday alerts on Facebook and doctor/ school/work reminders via an app. After a while, it all becomes noise.
By comparison, print is expensive and time consuming, but also has a greater meaning for people.
Consider Christmas cards. We still mail physical cards because they’re for people who are important to us. The cost of printing and postage coupled with the effort show friends and family we care.
It’s a similar situation with this magazine. Each month, I receive messages from readers who didn’t receive their copy in the mail. When was the last time you were disappointed about missing an alert on your phone?
People care about this magazine because our pages are filled with articles about their church, school, neighbors, and friends. It’s incredibly expensive to print and mail “free” magazines to every home and business in the city. We do it because we care.
A year ago, we took the road less traveled and doubled our print circulation by expanding to Huntington Beach. We’re happy to report the expansion has been a success.
