In 2025, the Fountain Valley Police Department launched the “You are Not Alone” (YANA) program to support Fountain Valley seniors.
YANA is an outreach program for senior residents living alone who would benefit from a daily welfare check. The program is designed to provide an added measure of security and peace of mind, helping seniors feel safer while continuing to live independently.
Daily phone calls to YANA participants are made by volunteers from the Fountain Valley Police Department’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program. The service is free and available to Fountain Valley residents ages 65 and older.
The program offers reassurance to independent seniors who may not have regular check-ins from family or friends.
It also acknowledges the risk of medical emergencies that could leave seniors vulnerable without timely assistance.
