8894 Swordfish Ave, Fountain Valley for Carol and her husband, Lee—a transaction that touched my heart. Carol just turned 80 and Lee is 88.
Carol has lived in this house since 1971, when it was first built.
Carol's journey to Fountain Valley began over 54 years ago. Originally from Chicago, Carol spent six months in Torrance before deciding to buy a home for her growing family. One day, while driving along the freeway toward Orange County, she spotted a large billboard advertising new homes for sale in Fountain Valley. Intrigued, she followed the directions and instantly fell in love with the area and the brand-new Glencove neighborhood. She had a choice between a four-bedroom home and a five-bedroom home with a larger lot— but it came with an additional cost of $1,800.
Seeing the potential for her family, she made the investment and purchased the fivebedroom home for $32,950 in 1971. Carol fondly recalls the early days in their new neighborhood. Back then, the surroundings were open farmland, including the Courreges' Farm Stand at Talbert and Newland.
Her children attended Fulton School (K-8) before moving on to Fountain Valley & Pacifica High Schools. The city quickly became home, providing great schools, excellent doctors, delicious restaurants, and a strong sense of community.
After more than five decades in their beloved home, Carol decided it was time for them to move closer to her daughter in Laguna Hills. Having never navigated the real estate market in all those years, she turned to our team. My dedicated agent, Michelle Serrano, guided them through the process, answering all of Carol's questions and helping them find a new place that felt just right, fitting all their needs.
When it came time to sell, Michelle and I worked closely with them to evaluate their home's value, strategize for a top-dollar sale, and ensure a smooth transition. We listed the property for $1,479,000, and within just one week, we received multiple offers, ultimately selling for $1,560, 000 with a 21-day escrow.
Totaling exactly 30 days from beginning to end!
Throughout the process, Carol's daughter Lori and her family frequently checked in, offering support as their parents prepared for the big move. Despite a minor foot injury, Carol remained strong, determined, and excited for this next phase of life.
Now, with their bags packed and a new home waiting, Carol and Lee, embark on a fresh chapter, closer to family.
We wish them both happiness, health, and many wonderful years ahead!
