Orange County Power Authority is inviting young artists in grades TK-6 to share their vision for a cleaner, more sustainable world through its new student art contest, “Picturing a Better Tomorrow.”
The contest encourages students to use creativity and imagination to illustrate how communities can protect the planet, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and embrace renewable energy.
Organizers are seeking artwork that highlights environmental stewardship, climate action, and the importance of working together to address climate change for future generations. The contest is open to students who live in or attend a school or after-school program in Buena Park, Fullerton, Fountain Valley, or Irvine.
Only one entry per student will be accepted, and artwork must be entirely the student’s own creation. Traced, copyrighted or artificial intelligence- generated submissions will not be considered.
One winner will be selected in each of four age groups: TK-K, grades 1-2, grades 3-4 and grades 5-6. Judges will evaluate entries based on creativity, originality, and relevance to the theme. Winning artwork will be featured as part of a mural displayed at OCPA offices.
Artwork may be created in any medium, including paint, markers, crayons, colored pencils, or digital art, and must be no larger than 18 inches by 24 inches. Each submission must include a completed entry form with parental consent. Entries without the required form will not be judged.
Submissions will be accepted through 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026. Physical artwork may be mailed or dropped off at the OCPA office at 15310 Barranca Parkway, Suite 250, in Irvine. Digital submissions, including scanned or photographed artwork, may be emailed to info@ocpower.org.
Each winner will receive four single- day admission tickets to Knott’s Berry Farm. Winners will be notified by March 2, 2026, by phone or email.
