The City of Fountain Valley has appointed Craig Heredia as its new police chief, effective Feb. 17, 2026.
Heredia brings 30 years of law enforcement experience and a strong commitment to community-focused policing to the Fountain Valley Police Department. He joins the city following a distinguished career with the Los Angeles Police Department, where he served in a wide range of assignments, including patrol operations, gang enforcement, major crimes and federal task force work.
A veteran leader who rose to the rank of Captain III, Heredia emphasizes accountability, employee wellness and relationship-based policing as he works to further strengthen public safety and community trust.
