As summer arrives in Fountain Valley, our community comes alive with energy, activity, and opportunities to connect. From family-friendly events and outdoor recreation to infrastructure improvements and community programs, this season is a reminder of what makes Fountain Valley such a special place to call home.
One of the highlights of summer is the opportunity to come together as a community. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to beloved annual traditions such as Fountain Valley Summerfest, which brings four days of live entertainment, carnival rides, delicious food, and community spirit to the heart of Fountain Valley. Our popular Concerts in the Park series also returns this summer, offering families and friends the chance to enjoy live music under the stars while connecting with neighbors and creating lasting memories.
Beyond these signature events, our Recreation & Community Services team continues to provide a variety of programs, camps, classes, and activities that enrich the lives of residents of all ages. Whether you’re participating in youth sports, enjoying one of our beautiful parks, or attending a community event, there are countless ways to stay active and engaged this season.
The city is excited to host its 2nd Citizens’ Academy beginning in September, which will provide an exclusive and hands-on journey into municipal government. This will be a dynamic 7-week course and we encourage interested residents to apply! More information can be found on the city’s website.
The Civic Center Ad-Hoc Committee is a newly created committee to brief the City Council and the community on the city’s assets in an open forum to have dialogues on the best use for the Civic Center plaza. The committee’s role is to gather facts and provide recommendations to the City Council body on short and long-term facility rehabilitation needs and potential site improvements.
While residents enjoy all that summer has to offer, city staff continue working behind the scenes to enhance the quality of life throughout Fountain Valley. From roadway and sidewalk improvements to park enhancements, public safety initiatives, and long-range planning efforts, our departments remain focused on delivering the high level of service our community expects and deserves.
As temperatures rise, I also encourage everyone to prioritize summer safety. Please stay hydrated, check in on neighbors and loved ones during periods of extreme heat, and remember to practice water, bicycle, and pedestrian safety throughout the season. Our Police and Fire Departments remain committed to keeping the community safe and prepared all summer long.
Most importantly, summer is a time to enjoy the people and places that make our community unique. I want to thank our residents, businesses, community partners, volunteers, City Council, and dedicated city staff for their continued support and commitment to making Fountain Valley “A Nice Place to Live.”
