V ista View Middle School’s elective esports program, now in its third year, is making big strides.
Led by teachers Stella Lee and Danielle Staton, Vista View’s esports program recently competed in regional and national competitions and walked away with a team trophy. Individually, the Falcons achieved an impressive first-place, second-place and two third-place awards.
Vista View students’ esports journey begins in sixth grade, where students learn the strategic game of chess on traditional boards before transitioning to the digital gaming platform.
Seventh- and eighth-grade students hone their strategic thinking skills, integrating them into more complex games such as Rocket League.
The program’s success not only reflects the esports talent at the school but also highlights the program’s commitment to skill development, teamwork, and developing a passion for competitive gaming. The esports program also serves as a seamless transition for students into Fountain Valley High School’s esports program.
Esports is a platform for students to excel, collaborate and showcase their talents in the ever-growing world of competitive gaming.
