Body The Fountain Valley Historical Society is looking for donations of artificial Christmas trees for this year’s Christmas in the Gazebo, set for Saturday, Dec. 13.

Body William and Mary Newland were drawn to the opportunities Southern California offered in the late 1800’s. So, they packed up their 10 children and left Illinois. Fewer than 20,000 people lived in all of Orange County when they arrived.

Body Three local service clubs have joined forces to make a difference. The Surf City Rotary Club of Huntington Beach, the Fountain Valley Rotary Club and the Fountain Valley Kiwanis Club have partnered with Rise Against Hunger to help feed starving people in developing countries.

Body My mother loved travel and gardening, so a visit to Butchart Gardens in Brentwood Bay, British Columbia, was one of her favorite vacation destinations.

SUDDENLY, THEY’RE ALL GROWN UP

Body The screensaver on our computer almost has us convinced our daughters are still toddlers. Every day, photos of swings and slides, bath time and footy pajamas remind us of the little girls they once were. We turn off the computer and suddenly, they’re all grown up.
